Successful Executives, leaders and “blue chip” professionals have a strong tendency towards the development of a wide range of psychological health, substance abuse, addictions and behavioral health difficulties, clinical burnout, stress related conditions. Physical and psychological problems occur at a statistically greater percentage in the professional and Executive demographic.
Clinically, significant burnout is a regularly observed conditions. It has also been indicated that there is a correlation between career and corporate success in individuals with certain types of personality disorders (often referred to as
the “dark triad” (or dark quadrad, namely narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy and even degrees of sadism)), which can create havoc within the corporate domain and in some cases be highly disruptive to corporate Human Resources dynamics, corporate legal status and can do serious damage to the public face of the corporate brand.
The evaluation and proper and effective treatment and rehabilitation of Executives and Senior leaders is a very different clinical process and dynamic than the interventions taken by a corporate E.A.P. program or by non clinical Executive health specialists. Highly successful people often have a very different intra-psychic apparatus than the general population. Developmental psychological narratives are often such that certain types and conditions in their early life stories create what is commonly referred to as hard driving, intense and obsessional ‘type A” personality styles often to a point of obsessionally. At PNEUMA our clinical specialist work has demonstrated repeatedly that the very personality dynamics which created success are the same dynamics which later create career derailment. Such individuals because of their psychological need to constantly achieve and their hyper focus on their careers often live very out of balance lives and unhealthy lifestyles. We have observed a certain degree of both “narcissistic” or a “self-wound” that requires constant overcompensation and an unstoppable ruminative drive towards greater and higher levels of success. Unfortunately, this is a very metaphorically sharp double-edged sword in that corporate structures, peers and other intimates have substantially rewarded these high achievers for their success throughout their entire lives. The internal script or unconscious psychodrama requires constant achievement. These individuals, unfortunately, have no discernible “end goals” and one success after another is never enough. This is the very real “dark side” of success. Unfortunately, this striving for perfection that is driven by their intra-psychic dynamics is clearly non sustainable and at some point in their career trajectory like Napoleon “will meet their personal Waterloo”. At this juncture the personality structure can manifest itself in severe clinical burnout, serious physical and mental health and/or addiction problems. When this time comes it cannot be re-iterated strongly enough that corporate E.A.P programs and non specialized non dedicated specialist services will be far from effective or adequate.
The PNEUMA executive Recovery Division clinical consultants have a unique understanding of the causation (etiology) of executive health issues, their maintenance and the clinical methods by which specialized healing, recovery and rehabilitation must take place. INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVES RECOVERY PROGRAMS
EXECUTIVE INTENSIVE RECOVERY PROGRAM
Our most intensive program is held in residence within or very close to high-end international health spas so that the client can focus on regaining their wellbeing in a serene non institutional environment where they have full access to a wide range of credentialed holistic health practitioners along with services and activities designed to calm and balance the nervous system and to contribute to healing the integrated mind-body-spirit aspects of self.
Our clients are not put in locked ward group based program. We serve one and only one client at time providing state of the art counseling and transformational service on a bespoke basis. Our program is unique in terms of healing and recovery experience, holistic in design and is completely confidential.
The client will be assigned a 24/7 recovery coach that will be present and available to assist them with day to day living and individualized program of recovery.
The program will initiate with a highly experienced executive recovery specialist who will begin the process of engaging the client in a process of a depth oriented and broad evaluation from which an individual recovery program will be developed. The recovery specialist will spend several hours each and every day working solely with the one (1) client.
It should be noted that The PNEUMA executive Recovery program is unique in that the client is a client of one (1) will no institutional dynamic, no non confidential groups intervention and will have a recovery team (based on evaluation) who during their stay will only be working with them as their solo client.
Participants will be housed in a pleasant and serene setting and will not be subjected to draconian institutional structures and processes. Based on the participants individual needs, a determination of length of stay will be recommended.

United States based research indicates substance use disorders cost US corporations 81 billion dollars annually and the economic output of the country as a whole 3.73 trillion dollars on an annual basis. Most of the corporate costs relates to lost productivity, absenteeism, turnover, recruitment costs, workplace accidents, healthcare expenses, disability insurance and workmen compensation costs. In addition, statistics indicates that mental health issues cost US industry 225.8 billion per annum. Internet addictions have been estimated to cost US corporations up to fifty-four (54) billion dollars annually. Online pornography addiction costs US corporations up to seventeen (17) billion dollars annually. Compulsive gambling is estimated to cost industry up to 2.7 billion a year.
Stress in itself within the Executive and Leadership cadre is estimated to cost the US corporate sector five hundred (500) billion per year.
Our sense is that each and every one of the above noted statistics will be significantly elevated as a result of the Global pandemic.
Sweeping these statistics under the corporate carpet would, to say the very least, be an exceptionally bad corporate non-strategy and business decision.
